Bright Lights: (Arista SPART 1142)

Bright Lights was Showaddywaddy's 8th original album release. It was released on the 1st of December 1980 (just in time for Christmas)! It only reached number 54 in the album charts, but unfortunately by this time, Showaddywaddy weren't as popular as they were a couple of years earlier. The front cover (below) was one of Showaddywaddy's more interesting album designs.

It's a shame that the album didn't do so well as it contains some great songs. 'Then Came You' has great vocals from Dave, and 'It's Only Make Believe' has Buddy at his best, especially towards the end of the song. The album also featured four of Showaddywaddy's singles. The full track listing is as follows:

Why Do Lovers Break Each Other's Hearts? (Main vocals by Dave Bartram)
Only Love (Main vocals by Dave Bartram and Buddy Gask)
Blue Moon (Main vocals by Dave Bartram and Buddy Gask)
I'll Never Get Over You (Main vocals by Buddy Gask)
Wonderful Dream (Main vocals by Dave Bartram)
Doo Wah Diddy (Main vocals by Dave Bartram)
I Wanna Take You Home (Main vocals by Dave Bartram)
Cool Cool Cat (Main vocals by Buddy Gask)
The Came You (Main vocals by Dave Bartram)
Teen Canteen (Main vocals by Al James)
It's Only Make Believe (Main vocals by Buddy Gask)
Always & Ever (Main vocals by Dave Bartram)

The back of the album shows Showaddywaddy all standing by cars (apart from Buddy) - presumably their own cars. Maybe Buddy trashed his car on the way to the photo-shoot!
