Sweet Little Rock 'n' Roller

"Sweet Little Rock 'n' Roller" was released in June 1979 and reached number 15 in the UK Singles Charts. It was a chnage in direction at the time for Showaddywaddy as it wasn't a '50s rock 'n' roll cover, it was a track originally done by The Drifters in 1974.

However, it is still a popular song amongst SWW fans, probably because of its dance routine which which was no doubt performed by fans when the band played it in concerts.

Showaddywaddy performed "Sweet Little Rock 'n' Roller" as the opening song on the 800th Top Of The Pops, which incidentally, was presented by Jimmy Saville.

The particular sleeve shown above is the Dutch version, released on the Lark label. Picture sleeve releases of this single in other countries were almost identical. The actual photograph used is from the promotional video for the single 'Pretty Little Angel Eyes'.

Former SWW member Malcolm Allured says to this day that 'Sweet Little Rock 'n' Roller' is his favourite song that he ever recorded with the band.
