Under The Moon Of Love

The situation with this single is a slightly odd one, in that it was to be the last ever Bell single - in the UK at least - before the name was taken over by Arista. But of course, the Bell tag made a comeback in the early '80s.
The versions of 'Under The Moon Of Love' that were released were different in that some were released on the Bell label and others on Arista. Also, they had different b-sides. The UK version had 'Lookin' Back' as the b-side, whereas other countries a mixture of 'Lookin' Back' and 'Showboat'. The latter was, of course, the b-side to 'You Got What It Takes' in the UK.

This is a Japanese demo that I purchased in July 2000. The cover is similar to that of the 1976 Greatest Hits LP. The b-side is 'Lookin' Back' just like the UK version. The back of the sleeve gives details of Showaddywaddy's other releases, but the writing is in Japanese so I cannot read what it says. It also features some photos of other Japanse SWW releases with different covers. What I'd give to get some of those.....

This is the Belgian sleeve - quite plain, but clearly shows as being on the Bell label and having Showboat as the b-side.

The Denmark version above is on the Bell label too. I'm not sure what the b-side on this is. The photo is the same as on the German sleeve of Dancin' Party.

The French sleeve proudly exclaims that this was a number one single in Great Britian and is on the Arista label. Because they know it was a number one in the UK, it must have been released early in 1977, but I'm not sure how it did in the French chart.

I think this is a very poor cover because they have missed Malcom and Rod from the photograph. Anyone who has seen the full version of this particular photograph will know that Malcolm and Rod are sitting at the bottom. Which idiot decided to snip them off the bottom...?!
That aside, again, this release is on Arista and I have got this particular version and can tell you that the b-side is Lookin' Back.

This is the sleeve from the Netherlands. I have got this single too - It is on Arista and the b-side is Showboat.

A remix version of 'Under The Moon Of Love' was released in 1986 for the 10th anniversary of it getting to number one. Although it wasn't too different to the original, I would have thought it would have done well in the chart had it not been withdrawn from sale due to contractual problems after the original line-up had split. As can be seen, the photo features Ray Martinez (second from the right) and also Buddy Gask (second from the left). After being together for a short time in Showaddywaddy, Ray and Buddy were to both later to be reunited in The Teddys.
